Sting is calling out sick.

The Grammy-winning British singer-songwriter, 73, has been forced to postpone several upcoming concerts after contracting a throat infection, Sting revealed on social media Wednesday.

“Thanks so much for all of the well wishes,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing, though I’m looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon.”

The health revelation comes after the “Fields of Gold” singer’s team announced on Tuesday that Sting was postponing a pair of shows on his ongoing Sting 3.0 tour, as well as his appearances at some industry events.

The singer’s Friday concert in Phoenix has been postponed to June 1, while his Sunday show in Wheatland, California, will now take place May 28. Additionally, his performance at the Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th anniversary has been pushed back to May 29.

Sting was also scheduled to appear at the Bass Magazine Awards on Thursday, but this appearance was canceled due to the singer’s condition.

“Fans should retain their tickets for the postponed shows, as they will be honored on the new dates,” Sting’s team wrote on Instagram. “Sting sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience and extends his gratitude to the fans for their understanding.”

FireAid lineup:Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Sting, more to perform at benefit concert

Sting is still scheduled to perform at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles on Jan. 30. The ’80s rocker will take the stage at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, alongside a star-studded lineup that includes Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder and others.

The singer launched his Sting 3.0 tour in September 2024. The North American trek has seen The Police frontman reimagine his catalog of hits with the help of guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas.

Sting opened up about the toll touring takes on his voice in a September interview with USA TODAY, including how he incorporated this “gruff” vocal quality into his recent song “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart).”

“I think people will be surprised by my voice. But that wasn’t deliberate,” Sting said. “I was right in the middle of finishing the last tour and I could barely speak, so that’s my natural voice when it gets fatigued.”
