Jennifer Love Hewitt shares makeup-free photos, reflects on cruelty toward aging women

This is 46 for Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The “I Know What You Did Last Summer” star reflected on aging in an Instagram post on Friday as she shared several makeup-free selfies to celebrate her 46th birthday.
“I have experienced and seen how the world can be cruel to women as they age and yet seen the women I admire become happier, sexier and more powerful with every added number,” she said. “I am so deeply grateful for this life. I love all who choose to do it by my side and I am ready to give love today to the younger me and the older me because they are my ride or die’s.”
Hewitt posted a series of photos of herself with “no make up and no filter” and said the post is for a friend of hers who hates filters.

The “Party of Five” actress acknowledged that she has had a “hard start to the year” and doesn’t “quite feel myself” amid a “feeling of loss and being lost.” But she said she has “found a strange calm and letting go that doesn’t usually come easy to me.”
“I have all the things I really need and long truly for nothing other than joyful moments, continuing in the career I love, more time with friends, delicious food and to feel a shift to this year that brings clarity and hopefully the return of a little magic,” she wrote.
Hewitt previously reflected on aging in an interview with Fox News in December, telling the outlet, “I feel like fans pick … this age that they love that they think represents you, and you’re never supposed to grow beyond that.” In her case, she said “people seem to have a really hard time accepting that” she doesn’t look like she’s in her 20s anymore.
“It’s hurtful sometimes when people reject you as you are verbally on Instagram or the internet because they’re having a hard time adjusting to it,” she told Fox.
In 2023, the actress hit back at fans who said she looked “unrecognizable” in a photo she posted that included a filter. On the “Inside of You” podcast, Hewitt recalled receiving comments claiming that “she’s gone to filters because she doesn’t want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s.” She responded by posting photos with exaggerated cartoon filters as a joke, only to receive comments saying she was being too defensive.
Jennifer Love Hewitt:Star hits back at claims she’s ‘unrecognizable’: ‘Aging in Hollywood is really hard’
“Aging is Hollywood is really hard,” she said. “You can’t do anything right.”
Hewitt rose to fame in the 1990s with roles in movies like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Can’t Hardly Wait,” and in recent years, she has starred on the drama series “9-1-1.”
She’s set to revisit one of the films that made her famous by returning for a new sequel to “I Know What You Did Last Summer” out in July. “It’s never too late to go back,” she wrote in an Instagram post confirming her involvement.
Hewitt is the latest celebrity to embrace a makeup free look. Pamela Anderson similarly ditched makeup throughout this year’s awards season. In an interview with Vogue France in 2023, the “Baywatch” star said she was “not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room,” which brought “freedom” and “relief.”
Selena Gomez was also praised last year after sharing a makeup-free photo of herself on Instagram, which was accompanied by a caption that simply said, “Real.”
